Center for Hydrometeorology & Remote Sensing

As and informal interdisciplinary group, the center currently brings together faculty and researchers from the departments civil and environmental engineering and earth system science in the university of California, Irvine. This group jointly conducts research aiming to advance the knowledge of the water and energy cycle at scales ranging from the local watersheds to continental scales. CHRS's main focus is land-surface hydrologic processes, their spatial and temporal variability, and the use of remote sensing information and computer models to improve both the understanding of these processes and the ability to model them in order to predict the impacts natural and anthropogenic variabilities on water resources. The majority of CHRS research activities are funded by NASA, NOAA, and NSF.
