Project manager, social sciences

Joy manages the social sciences component of research at the CalPlug Center at Calit2. She designs, manages, and consults on studies using survey research, individual interviews, and other types of human subjects recruitment.

Before joining Calit2, Joy was a project manager at the Institute for Social Research at University of Michigan, an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology at UCI, where she taught survey research methods, and an independent research consultant. She has experience designing, conducting, and analyzing data from a wide range of social science research projects. Her personal research interests include state and corporate policy, work-home interface, and the work-life challenges faced by today's busy dual-earner families.

Joy received a bachelor's degree in social sciences from the University of Michigan, a master's degree in human development and family studies from Cornell University, and a doctorate in sociology from Cornell University.
