Energy for Sustainability

TOPIC: The National Science Foundation is inviting grant applications for fundamental research and education that will enable innovative processes for the sustainable production of electricity and transportation fuels. Processes for sustainable energy production must be environmentally benign, reduce greenhouse gas production, and utilize renewable or bio-based resources that are abundant in the U.S.
The program focuses on the following areas: Biomass Conversion, Biofuels, and Bioenergy; Photovoltaic Solar Energy; Wind and Wave Energy; Energy Technology Assessment; and Fuel Cells.

DEADLINE: The full proposal windows are February 1 to March 3, and August 15 to September 15.

FUNDS: Recent awards have ranged from $30,000 to $400,000.

ELIGIBILITY: NSF welcomes proposals on behalf of all qualified scientists, engineers and educators.
